Boone County War Memorial

Located on the Courthouse Square in Harrison, the Boone County War Memorial lists the names of P.O.W.'s from Boone County. The front side of the memorial is pictured below, with the words on it given to the right. At the bottom are pictures of the 'back side' of the memorial. The two "blank columns" on the front commemorate the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and the writing is on the other side. As you look at it in this picture, the Vietnam war is on the left side, and the Korean War on the right side.

Wording...

Thank God we All can see
Our flag still flying wide.
I think we should also thank
Those who kept it there with pride
There are those who faced each day
With blood and fear and tears,
And I believe with all their pride
Will remember that for years.
Think of the ones who died there
And the loved ones they left behind.
Can’t you just see the sadness
That must be in their minds?
Sure we all love America
But they all loved it too.
And they all did their duty
As they thought they should do.
So let us show our respect and love
To all in the service and let them know we care
For without their help and God’s,
Our flag would not be there.

The Spirit of America will never be held captive as long as we have men like these who endured as prisoners of war
